RED WORRIORS WILL BOUNCE BACK, WARNS SATHIA

KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan coach B. Sathianathan graciously accepted defeat after being soundly beaten 3-1 by Negri Sembilan in the Malaysia Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

But the former national coach promised that the Red Warriors would come back stronger next season.

“We have two to three new signings and these players should add strength to the team next season,” said Sathianathan at the post-match conference yesterday.

Kelantan, seeking their first major silverware in Malaysian football since 1921, failed to deliver in front of a sellout 85,000 crowd when their defence gave away three soft goals.

“Negri deserve to win ... credit should not be taken away from them. They played well ... Shukor (Adan), Hairuddin (Omar) and Mohd Aidil (Zafuan) all had a good game,” said Sathianathan.

“I am proud of my men for coming this far. No one gave us a chance. I had the team for a short period and in the end we gave away soft goals.”
